From vibrant nightlife venues and exquisite resorts to exciting outdoor activities, Las Vegas beckons – and it is no wonder the Chinese love the world’s entertainment capital.
As the representative for Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s (LVCVA) in China, we collaborated with Hainan Airlines, China’s largest independent carrier with a five-star Skytrax rating, to launch a new route connecting Las Vegas to Beijing to let travelers’ dreams take flight. This historic air route connecting the two cities is expected to introduce millions of prospective visitors to Las Vegas and generate an estimated USD 33.5 million annually in travel spend for Nevada.

Keeping in line with Las Vegas’ positioning as Nevada’s fabulous city, our mission was to reach a broader audience and attract Chinese to visit the destination by rolling out an experiential launch event. We brought members of the media and trade partners on a journey from China’s capital city to the destination so they can experience Vegas-style hospitality.
Welcome To Las Vegas!
To announce Hainan Airlines’ first-ever nonstop flight from the gateways of Beijing to Las Vegas, we organized a Las Vegas-style kick-off event, replete with glitz and glamor. We designed a landing page featuring over hundreds of popular Las Vegas attractions and resorts, including MGM Grand, The Palazzo, Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons Resort and Bellagio Fountains!
To officiate the launch of Hainan Airlines’ inaugural flight, we organized a series of events and activities that are in-line with the destination’s slogan “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas”. A Boeing 787 Dreamliner operating under the code HU 7970 welcomed 150 VIPs comprising travel trade partners and media professionals at Hainan Airline’s gate in Beijing Capital International Airport and departed at 12:30 pm for Nevada.
On arrival at McCarran International Airport, the VIPs were treated to a glitzy welcome ceremony at the gates. They were shuttled to the luxurious five-star international hotel Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, situated at the heart of The Strip, where they attended the introduction ceremony, which included a lovely sand art showcase, live band performances and raffle draw!
In addition to a glamorous reception, we developed itineraries to take editors and journalists on day tours of Las Vegas, which included visits to iconic attractions like Caesars Palace, the LINQ High Roller, The Mirage and Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.
The launch of Hainan Airlines’ inaugural flight to Las Vegas successfully generated a PR Value of USD 2.8 million and 53 million views.
